Change or Renew Your Service

In Connecticut, supplier rate changes occur on the utility meter read dates. Your meter read date is listed your utility bill. On Eversource bills the meter read date is located in the top-left meter read section of your bill. On United Illuminating bills the meter read date is located in the ‘Your Account Information’ section on the first page of your bill.  The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority decision in Docket 14-07-19RE05 on December 19, 2018 prevents consumers from making changes to their supply rates less than 32 days before the beginning of the billing cycle where the rate will be applied. Suppliers also need time to process consumer rate change requests. For that reason, Public Power requires that it receives customer rate change requests 44 days before the beginning of the billing cycle where the rate will be applied. For example, if your current contract was expiring on your October 1st meter read, August 25th would be the last day you could submit a request to Public Power to change the rate you would receive on your October 1st - November 1st billing cycle.
